Positive: The house is located in a rural farming village with many vineyards, orchards, and flowers blooming all around. The host, Alfredo, was very kind and met us to explain all aspects of the house. The pool area and the views were highlights of this property. Alfredo left us with pastries, fresh strawberries, eggs, beer, and wine to use during our stay. The house was much bigger than we anticipated and, traveling as a couple, we didn't use many of the areas. We were able to figure out the TV and how to access our Netflix and YouTube channels since the weather was not ideal and we opted to stay in quite a bit. The living and bedroom areas do require going up and down stairs with luggage, not a problem for us 60-somethings traveling light. The house is on a narrow cobblestone street and one must be cautious about the traffic. We were thankful for the choice of bedrooms and that we chose one in the back of the house away from the street. The mattress was a bit hard for our liking, but that is a matter of preference. Water pressure and shower facilities are all great by American standards, as was the soap provided. Kitchen has everything one needs and is in top condition.

Negative: Parking in the garage around the corner was a bit tight but we managed. The village is a bit rustic with many ruins. We didn't have any expectations about this and it was just a surprise because the accommodation is in such pristine condition. Bring food with you or plan to shop on the way in because there is no market in the village, as mentioned by other reviewers.

Positive: Our host was very helpful and kind. The house is very large and had everything we needed and more, besides. The private pool area was very relaxing and immaculately maintained, just like the house. Having a garage for our car was very helpful and somewhere convenient and secure to store bikes etc. This is a great location for visitors wanting to enjoy this famous wine region, cycle, hike or just relax in a small, traditional Portuguese village.

Negative: We found the mattresses to be rather too firm for us but this is a matter of personal preference.
